The manufacturing sector has been
streamlined to reflect Tradewinds Corporation Berhad’s
direction to tap into viable emerging new businesses whilst
strengthening its involvement in the sectors that will generate
a sustainable income stream for the Group. The Group is involved
in a wide spectrum of manufacturing activities, ranging from
sugar refining (Central Sugars Refinery Sdn Bhd), to automotive
glass (MCIS Safety Glass Sdn Bhd).

Refining
Central
Sugars Refinery Sdn Bhd (CSR) is the second largest sugar
refinery in Malaysia , contributing 1,400 metric tons of sugar
per day for Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand,
Australia and Phillipines market. Located in Batu Tiga, Shah
Alam, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tradewinds (M) Berhad
that was incorporated on 23 March 1983.

In 1992, CSR was the first sugar refining company in Malaysia
to obtain the ISO 9002 certification. Subsequently, in 1994,
it was the first sugar refining company to obtain the "HALAL"
certification from the National Islamic Body.
Safety Glass
A highly automated plant located in Negeri Sembilan,
MCIS Safety Glass Sdn Bhd produces and supplies automotive
glass to major auto manufacturers and assemblers in the country.
It was originally set up in April 1973 as a joint venture
with Malaysian and Indian interests. The company rapidly expanded
and its business operations were further strengthened with
the involvement of Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. of Japan and Tradewinds
Corporation Berhad (then Pernas International Holdings Berhad).
Today, MCIS Safety Glass is among the major local players
in the manufacture and trade of safety glass, and is one of
the two companies entrusted to supply national automotive
manufacturer, PROTON, with high quality automotive glass.
The company also supplies to other leading domestic automotive
manufacturers and assemblers such as Honda, Perodua, Hyundai
and DRB-Hicom.
