Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan.
Selamat petang. Welcome and thank you for joining us
on this special occasion.
Let me start by expressing my sincere appreciation to
YABhg Dato’ Sri Rosmah Mansor for honouring Tradewinds
Corporation’s Caring For Our Kids Programme,
and for adding to the significance of this evening’s
occasion with her kind presence.
We at Tradewinds Corporation believe that charity should
begin at home. As such, it is indeed a great pleasure
and honour for us to have yet another avenue to extend
a caring and helping hand to our less fortunate employees
and their family members through the Tradewinds Corporation
Caring for Our Kids programme.
A joint initiative of Tradewinds Corporation and its
subsidiary companies, the Pernas Sports & Recreation
Club, and Hilton Petaling Jaya, this inaugural programme
lends assistance to deserving families of employees
from the lower income bracket who have at least two
school-going children.
This assistance comes in the form of providing children
with school uniforms. This is because it is our belief
that with such basic essentials taken care of, the children
will be better able to focus wholeheartedly on excelling
in their studies and in life.
Ladies and gentlemen, our initial plan was to provide
this assistance to 30 children. However, our selection
process unveiled a greater need. We are now pleased
to share that we have been able to increase this allocation,
and this evening, we will be presenting 119 children
with new school uniforms in preparation for the upcoming
2005 school session.
As for our young beneficiaries, I would like to encourage
you to focus and excel in your studies and to dare to
dream of a brighter future ahead. Education is the foundation
to your future, and each of you now have the key to
your future in your grasp. However, let not your pursuit
for academic qualification overshadow the development
of your character. I encourage you to make full use
of your youth, your chance at learning and life’s
opportunities.
Before I end, I would like to express my thanks to Sogo
and Nestle for responding to the need to assist the
needy and for coming on board the programme as sponsors.
Your contribution is much appreciated, and I look forward
to future opportunities for us to partner to touch more
lives.
Thank you and have a pleasant evening. |
